Biden-Harris Administration Delivers $520 Million from President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda to Revitalize Aging Water Infrastructure and Strengthen Drought Resilience
May 16, 2024 – Acting Deputy Secretary of the Interior Laura Daniel-Davis today announced more than $520 million from President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda to revitalize aging water delivery systems across the West. The funding will support 57 projects across all six regions served by the Bureau of Reclamation to improve water conveyance and storage, increase safety, improve hydropower generation, and provide water treatment. To strengthen America’s climate resilience, President Biden secured more than $50 billion for climate resilience and adaptation through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, and established a National Climate Resilience Framework, which is advancing locally tailored, community-driven climate resilience strategies. Biden-Harris Administration Delivers $60 Million from Investing in America Agenda for Drought Resilience in the Rio Grande Basin
May 10, 2024 – Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland today announced a $60 million investment from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda for water conservation and drought resilience in the Rio Grande Basin. These resources will ensure greater climate resiliency and water security for communities below Elephant Butte Reservoir and into West Texas. Secretary Haaland made the announcement in Albuquerque following a briefing on the Rio Grande Project with state and local officials, irrigators, and other partners. -

Reclamation finalizes SEIS process to address drought and climate impacts on Glen Canyon Dam and Hoover Dam
May 9, 2024 – The Bureau of Reclamation today finalized its process to protect the short-term stability and sustainability of the Colorado River System by signing the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for Near-term Colorado River Operations Record of Decision. The Department of the Interior released the final SEIS in March 2024. -

Reclamation man takes heroic action, prevents tragedy
May 8, 2024 – On Aug. 22, 2022, David Arend was driving home from work. As he reached his exit, he noticed a distraught man standing on the edge of the overpass high above the busy highway. Arend says he felt compelled to pull over and go to him.
“I wasn't sure what I was going to say, but I just felt like I was being driven to do this,” said Arend. “So, I pulled over, got out of my truck, walked through the traffic. I walk up to him, you know, I just started talking with him. I said, ‘what's going on?’ He just kept shaking his head and he kept saying, ‘I'm done’.” Read More → -

Biden-Harris Administration Delivers $147 Million from Investing in America Agenda for Drought Resiliency and Water Supply Reliability Across the West
May 6, 2024 – The Department of the Interior today announced a $147.6 million investment from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to help communities prepare and respond to water reliability challenges due to drought and other water scarcity concerns. The funding will support 42 projects in 11 states. -
