Well Fields - Groundwater Recovery and River Regulation Program
The Yuma Area Office operates and maintains 4 well fields to recover groundwater in the Yuma area. Pumped groundwater helps maintain water tables and is included in water deliveries to Mexico which preserves a like amount of water in U.S. reservoirs on the lower Colorado River. The well fields are comprised of 97 wells and 57 observation wells. Near real time information from many of the wells is available from the Yuma Area Water Management System. These well fields are named Yuma Valley, South Gila Valley, Yuma Mesa and 242 Lateral.
