The Infrastructure Investment and Management Branch maintains the Bureau of Reclamation’s (Reclamation) constructed asset inventory. The branch plays a crucial role in ensuring Reclamation's infrastructure is managed effectively, safely, and sustainably, contributing to the overall mission of managing water resources in the Western United States. Efforts help protect valuable infrastructure assets and ensure reliability for various water delivery and storage systems.

    Asset Management Report to Congress [2025]

    The John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act, P.L. 116-9, Title VIII – Water and Power, Subtitle G – Bureau of Reclamation Transparency, Sections 8601-8603 (Transparency Act) requires Reclamation to provide Congress with a detailed assessment of Major Rehabilitation and Replacement (MR&R) long-term capital and repair needs, categorization of repair needs, and regular reporting of information related to Reclamation’s investments in infrastructure. The report to Congress must include an itemized list of MR&R activities, guidance that describes the applicability of a risk categorization system, and budget-level cost estimates, as reported in annual funding requests for individual activities.     • Strategic Asset Management Plan [2020]

      Reclamation’s infrastructure is the foundation for life in the western United States. As our infrastructure continues to age, it is imperative to maintain our ability to safely and reliably execute our mission. Reclamation’s Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) describes the value the bureau provides to the nation and documents the investments needed to continue succeeding into the future. The SAMP also provides a reporting framework in which Reclamation employes to meet requirements outlined in the Reclamation Transparency Act of 2019. The SAMP combines Reclamation’s Asset Management Plans and Infrastructure Investment Strategy, while also aligning with ISO 550000 series standards on asset management. Read Report Here


      • State of the Infrastructure Report [2024]

        This is a joint report by the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (Army Corps) offers a comprehensive overview of the infrastructure asset portfolio, including associated asset management practices, collaborative efforts, and future strategies. Both agencies have made unprecedented investments in critical water resource construction projects and are striving to develop innovative solutions to their most pressing challenges.
