Kim's Marina
Canyon Ferry Reservoir
Overview
The current concessionaire contract for Kim’s Marina, located on Canyon Ferry Reservoir, will expire on December 31, 2026. Due to public health and safety concerns at the site, the Bureau of Reclamation is temporarily pausing efforts to solicit and award a new concessionaire contract. Beginning in 2027, Reclamation will be working on upgrades to the water, sewer, electrical system, and the design of new concessionaire infrastructure. These upgrades are needed to ensure that public health, safety, and welfare is met at the site. Once the health and safety concerns with the site are addressed, a new contract will be solicited for a new concessionaire.
To complete site clean-up and redesign, all personal property must be removed from the site by December 31, 2026. The trailer homes are exempt from this as Reclamation is currently working them on the logistics of removing them with the individual owners.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
What is a concessionaire contract, and why is it expiring?
A concessionaire contract is a formal agreement authorizing a private operator to manage and operate a public facility on behalf of the Bureau of Reclamation. Under this arrangement, the concessionaire is responsible for daily operations, public services, and facility maintenance in accordance with the contract terms, while Reclamation retains ownership of the property. The current contract was established for a defined term, which concludes on December 31, 2026. Such contracts are established for fixed periods to allow for periodic review, ensuring the operating arrangement continues to serve the public interest.
-
Why can’t Reclamation just renew the existing contract?
Per Reclamation policy, a concessionaire contract cannot be renewed with the existing concessionaire. It must be readvertised through a full and open bidding process
-
I am a seasonal camper, when do I need to have my property removed?
All personal property will need to be removed by December 31, 2026. All personal property remaining on site after this date will be considered abandoned and will be removed by Reclamation.
-
Why is Reclamation closing the site and not readvertising for a new concessionaire contract?
Due to health and safety concerns, Reclamation has made the difficult decision to pause concessionaire operations at the site. Significant deficiencies have been found with the electrical, sewer, and water systems. This will be the first significant upgrades to the site since the early 1970’s when Kim’s Marina was first constructed.
-
Will there be recreation opportunities at Kim’s Marina in 2027?
Upon expiration of the current contract, the Bureau of Reclamation will assume interim operations of the site. Reclamation will provide dry camping that will be reservable on Rec.gov, day use access to the beach and Cave Point Bay and access to the existing boat ramp. Interim operations are expected to be in place by the start of Recreation season 2027.
-
Will boat slips be available during the 2027 recreation season?
Reclamation is exploring possible opportunities for boat slip rentals at the site during the 2027 recreation season. A formal announcement will be made at a later date.
-
Will site develop and the redesign process be conducted transparently?
-
Yes. Reclamation is committed to conducting this process in an open and transparent manner. Key documents, and official announcements will be published on this page, and members of the public will be afforded opportunities to provide input at scheduled meetings and during the designated public comment period.
-
How may I submit input or feedback?
Members of the public may participate in several ways: by attending a public meeting (refer to the "Public Meeting Dates" section), by submitting written comments during the public comment period, or by contacting the Bureau of Reclamation directly at EMAIL.
-
How will updates be communicated?
Updates will be published to this website regularly. Public meetings and comment periods will be announced via press release.
