The U.S. government has developed several official websites to assist vendors in doing business with Federal agencies. Registering in and/or utilizing the websites is typically no cost to the user. Please note, Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information or paying a fee, make sure you are on a Federal government website by looking at the address bar.

Acquisition.gov is used by the Federal acquisition community and its business partners to help them conduct Federal government business efficiently. From this site you can access shared systems and tools, to include Federal regulations, Agency forecasts, and the Product Service Codes (PSC) Manual.

System for Award Management (SAM). Vendors, large and small, that want to do business with the U.S. government must be registered SAM. The website can also be used to check the status of an entity registration and search for entity registration and exclusion records. Federal agencies also utilize SAM to verify small business certifications and vendor’s capabilities.

The System for Award Management (SAM) is the official U.S. government system for Contract Opportunities (formerly beta.SAM); Contract Data (reports ONLY from fpds.gov); Wage Determinations (formerly wdol.gov); Federal Hierarchy (Departments and Subtiers); Assistance Listings (formerly cfda.gov); Entity Registration (including Disaster Response Registry); Entity Reporting (SCR and Bio-Preferred Reporting); and Exclusions. Vendors, large and small, that want to do business with the U.S. government must be registered SAM. The website can also be used to check the status of an entity registration and search for entity registration and exclusion records. Federal agencies also utilize SAM to verify small business certifications and vendor’s capabilities. Federal agencies post and vendors can locate contract opportunities and award data, over $25,000, and in the case of Reclamation, over $15,000 in SAM.

Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) is a Small Business Administration (SBA) database that government agencies use for market research to find small business contractors for upcoming contracts. Small businesses can also use DSBS to find other small businesses to partner with. The information you provide when you register your business in SAM is used to populate DSBS. You are encouraged to add supplemental information about your business by creating or updating your SBA Profile at the SBA Supplemental Page in SAM.

For assistance in registering in these systems, please contact your local SBA District Office, or Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC).
