Lower Colorado Basin Region
Genevieve Johnson is the Deputy Regional Director of the Bureau of Reclamation’s Lower Colorado Basin Region. She is currently serving as the acting Regional Director.
With more than 20 years in federal service, Johnson has significant experience addressing complex environmental and water resource management challenges. She joined Reclamation in 2012 and most recently served as the manager of the Lower Colorado Basin Region Project and Program Office where she was responsible for leading project management efforts related to fulfilling Tribal trust responsibilities, and developing restoration and infrastructure projects to increase Colorado River System conservation.
She played a crucial role in providing operational leadership and facilitating the development of the Colorado River System Operations Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement to the 2007 Interim Guidelines, bringing together key stakeholders to establish short-term operating guidelines to bridge system operations through 2026.
As Deputy Regional Director, she oversees the Boulder Canyon Operations Area Office, the Phoenix and Yuma area offices, the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program, the Project and Program Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Office, Binational Program, Information Management and Technology, and the Human Resources Office.
Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology and a Master of Science in Urban and Environmental Planning from Arizona State University.
