Conconully Safety of Dams

Aerial View of Conconully Dam, Okanogan Project, Washington
All dams are regularly monitored under the Bureau of Reclamation’s Safety of Dams program and are routinely evaluated for seismic risks using seismic models to predict how a dam behaves during earthquakes. Detailed analysis and studies are done to ensure the dam’s risk are not outside their recommended Interim Dam Safety Public Protection Guidelines - August 2011.
The Conconully Dam structure is performing as designed. Reclamation and Okanogan Irrigation District are developing construction alternatives to modify and reduce risk at Conconully Dam in the event of an earthquake. Reclamation is committed to ensuring clear and open communication with downstream residents. As the project evolves, Reclamation will update the Dam Safety Process and Schedule >>
