Composite/Discrete Water Samples for Metals/Organics

The following links will allow you to view tables of water quality data for samples collected at or near the Tracy Fish Collection Facility. All water quality sampling and analyses from Reclamation programs were performed using consensus QA procedures and analytical methods. Contact Kathy Fenton if you have more specific data or quality documentation requirements.

Composite Samples for Organic Compounds 1999-2000 (PDF - 116 KB)

We collected composite samples for pesticides and herbicides using an programmable Infiltrix sampling pump with disk filtration and solid phase extraction on XAD Resin. Nine monthly composite samples were collected from the intake channel of the TFCF from late May 1999 through February 2000. Filters and resin samples were extracted and analyzed by Axys Analytical, Sidney, BC, using high resolution gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS). The volumes of water concentrated on the filters and resin cartridges and the high resolution MS techniques allowed extremely low detection limits less than 1 nanogram per liter (ng/L).

Composite Samples for Trace Elements 1999-2000 (PDF - 101 KB)

While collecting the organics composite samples, we also collected nine monthly composite samples from the TFCF intake channel using a programmable Hamilton sampling pump for trace element analyses using Inductively-coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).

Surface Grab Samples for Inorganic Compounds near the TFCF, October 1997 (PDF - 182 KB)

This table summarizes grab surface water samples collected from the Old River and Grant Line Canal near the TFCF in October 1997. Data include major ions, nutrients, ng/L detection limit trace metals analyzed using ICP-MS, and ultra-low concentration mercury and methylmercury data (less than 0.01 ng/L detection limits). Originally summarized in the Tracy Volume 9 report.

Inorganic Compounds in TFCF Groundwater - Winter 2000-2001 (PDF - 123 KB)

This table summarizes inorganic analyses performed on groundwater samples collected from several wells near the TFCF in December 2000 and January 2001. These samples were collected as part of site evaluation for a NEPA Environmental Impact Statement.

USGS Pesticides and Herbicides 1991-1994

The USGS performed an extended study from 1991 - 1994 collecting composite samples from the San Joaquin River near Vernalis, California, using solid phase extraction for herbicides and pesticides. The Old River is a distributary of the San Joaquin River, and the Vernalis sampling station is around 35 km (21.7 mi) from the TFCF, so these are useful comparative data. Results are reported in ng/L.
