Helena Valley Irrigation District – Lease of Power Privilege
Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact

The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed hydropower project at the Helena Valley Pumping Plant. A Draft Environmental Assessment was prepared for the project and made available for a 30-day comment period in October 2015. A final EA was completed on December 11, 2015, and a FONSI was signed by Area Manager Steve Davies on December 16, 2015.

The Helena Valley Irrigation District manages the Helena Valley Pumping Plant and requested approval to install hydroelectric generators at the Helena Valley Pumping Plant downstream of Canyon Ferry Dam to develop clean hydroelectric power under authority of the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act passed by Congress on August 2, 2013.
