Research Question

What are the issues and knowledge gaps for Reclamation's hydropower mechanical operation, maintenance, and performance?

What research activities could be done to address these gaps and how will they be implemented?

What technical resources are available to conduct the needed research?

In an environment of aging infrastructure and ever-changing operational criteria and policies, a defined plan is needed to proactively identify and then address mechanically related hydropower issues.

Need and Benefit

A research road map that is laid out by survey results from industry operators and users is needed to prioritize research activities. This is needed to direct research to effectively address real and current issues faced by the hydropower industry.
