Research Question

This project will support the development of a new and improved version of the rotor-mounted scanner, designated ‘StatorScan'. The new scanner will leverage key insights learned during the operating history of the initial scanner combined with a multitude of technical advancements now available. Following thorough laboratory tests and beta tests at other hydrogenating facilities, the initial release of the StatorScan will be installed at a Reclamation facility for evaluation.

Need and Benefit

If successful StatorScan will allow the end-user to view real-time generator sensor data that is not presently available; therefore, making it possible to detect abnormal conditions that may presently goes undetected and providing the data necessary to help extend the time interval of more costly offline tests and inspections.
