5th Annual Water Innovations and Networking Workshop
The Bureau of Reclamation's Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility (BGNDRF) hosted its 5th Annual WIN (Water treatment Innovation and Networking) Workshop on September 20 and 21. The staff was glad to welcome back an in-person audience after two years of virtual events.
The goal of the WIN Workshop is to allow clients of BGNDRF the opportunity to share their work with a broader audience in a rich environment for networking with potential customers, investors, partners, and other interested parties.
The 5th Annual WIN Workshop featured a keynote presentation provided by Brent Alspach, Director of Applied Research, Water Division, Arcadis. Brent spoke to attendees about Quantifying the Real Economic Value of Desalination. Other highlights included presentations from many prior and current BGNDRF clients. The presentation sessions were rounded out with panel discussions on PFAS Treatment and Removal and Regional Desalination, and guest presentations on Federal programs and funding opportunities from the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Energy, and Environmental Protection Agency.
This year’s event featured a few new interactive opportunities for Workshop attendees. In addition to the popular 3-Minute Pitches, attendees had the opportunity to tour local water treatment facilities and enjoy a night out with water treatment operators. Many current clients showcased their ongoing work during interactive networking sessions. Workshop attendees were able to see active research projects and ask the researchers questions in real time.
