Hydropower Program

Renewable Energy: Hydropower

Hydropower is a renewable and reliable resource providing clean energy to the western United States. It is the nation's largest renewable energy resource and the Bureau of Reclamation is the second largest producer in the United States. In March 2010, the U.S. Department of the Interior, Department of Energy and the Department of the Army signed an agreement to provide affordable and environmentally sustainable hydropower for America's energy needs for today and tomorrow. Reclamation is working to improve the efficiency and increase the existing capacity as well as adding new generation where it is feasible.
