Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, National Park Service, P.O. Box 1460, Fritch, TX 79036; (806) 857-2002. Nearest highway, State 136. Nearest city, Sanford. The lake provides over 100 miles of shoreline and over 16,000 acres of water surface surrounded by 200 foot, steep-walled canyons and broken grassland. Accessible from numerous roads with several boat ramps and camping facilities. Open year-round for fishing which includes white, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye, and several species of catfish.
