Pasture Management Guide - Sponsored by: Wasatch Soil Conservation District

Many small-track pastures in Wasatch County, Utah, receive quantities of irrigation water that are larger than necessary because many of the area's small farm and ranch operators do not have information on sound water management practices. Under the WCFSP, the Wasatch Soil Conservation District received financial assistance from Reclamation to assist in the publishing and distribution of a pasture management guide entitled "A Pasture and Hayland Management Guide for Small Farms and Ranches in Wasatch County". This guide serves as a training and reference source by providing scientifically-based and technically-sound pasture cultural practices including proper irrigation application.

Because Wasatch County is converting from flood irrigation to pressurized secondary irrigation as part of the Central Utah Project Completion Act requirements, this guide is also used in planning new on-farm irrigation systems as well as educating landowners about key natural resource conservation issues and proper water management.
