Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Farm & Ranch Enterprise- Sponsored by: Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Farm & Ranch Enterprise

infrared aerial photo of circular crop region

The WCFSP provided financial assistance to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's Farm and Ranch Enterprise for the demonstration of the use of aerial infrared photography that identifies soil and water management problems. Through an additional cooperative agreement with the Tribe, Reclamation is cost-sharing funding a computerized irrigation scheduling and control system demonstration project. Other partners in this effort include Natural Resources Conservation Service, Colorado State University, and Lindsay Irrigation Manufacturing Company. This project uses information from a state-of the-art weather station, radio telemetry, and a computer system and programs to calculate crop evapotranspiration and irrigation requirements on a real-time basis.
