Minidoka Irrigation District Title Transfer

Through development of the Minidoka Project, the United States holds title to irrigation facilities serving MID water users and other lands, rights and facilities supporting MID operations and maintenance. MID has repaid relevant Project construction costs in accordance with their construction contracts. Operation, maintenance, and care of the MID facilities were transferred to MID on December 2, 1916.

MID is interested in receiving title to relevant Project facilities and lands below (downstream) the headworks at the Minidoka Dam to reduce administrative costs and increase operational efficiencies. Reclamation is interested in working with MID to pursue title transfer in accordance with P.L. 116-9 and relevant guidance.

Reclamation and MID held an open house on Thursday, December 5, 2019, to share information about the MID Title Transfer. The open house was held at the Minidoka Fire Protection District, Heyburn Office, in the community room, located at 1120 21st St. in Heyburn, Idaho, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Written comments were accepted until January 5, 2020.

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) in working with Minidoka Irrigation District is providing the public with the opportunity to review the negotiated draft of the final title transfer agreement for 30 days beginning September 30, 2020. The draft final title transfer agreement can be found below.
