DENVER – The Bureau of Reclamation was recently recognized by the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology as a 2023 NTID Co-op and Career Center Outstanding Employer Partner Award. This award recognizes employers who have a sustained record of hiring deaf or hard-of hearing co-op students or graduates.

In presenting the award, NTID said, “The partnership between Reclamation and the NTID Co-op and Career Center is an excellent example of the mutually beneficial hiring relationships which we seek to develop with employers around the country. NTID is grateful to be working with you.”

“Reclamation is unwavering in its dedication to fostering a diverse workforce by actively seeking out and hiring highly skilled professionals,” said Reclamation’s Civil Rights Manager Lara Grillos.

Engineers and natural scientists constitute the predominant segments of Reclamation’s workforce. These professionals pay a pivotal role in managing America’s water resources and driving the efficient production of hydroelectric power. Over the years, the collaborative efforts of the Civil Rights Division and the Technical Service Center have been instrumental in conducting impactful outreach initiatives.

These initiatives are deigned not only to introduce Reclamation to potential applicants but to encourage top-tier talent to consider joining the bureau. Through these concerted efforts, we aim to attract individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, ensuring a dynamic workforce that can effectively address the challenges and opportunities in the realm of water resource management and hydroelectric power production.
