Yuma, Arizona – The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that it is working with the Yuma Irrigation District (District) to transfer federal title of property currently used by the District.

The proposed action will convey to the District ownership of the federally-owned property, including the office building, parking lot, shop area and all improvements and appurtenances thereto, that are located on a parcel spanning approximately 1.29 acres.

Since 1962, the District has performed operation and maintenance of the property. The District’s construction costs were repaid through its existing repayment contract, and the remaining repayment obligation was discharged as directed by the Ak-Chin Water Rights Settlement Act of 1984.

To convey title of the property from Reclamation to the District, the parties are working together in accordance with Title VIII of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (P.L. 116-9) which was signed into law on March 12, 2019.
