A workshop, designed to help identify strategies and steps to market oneself for that next opportunity, is just one-half of the Regional Office's upcoming celebration of "America's Rich Hispanic Heritage."

Scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 12 in the Regional Training and Conference Center, the workshop and marketplace will provide attendees with ". . . a taste of knowledge to enhance their careers and taste of Hispanic cuisine."

"Some individuals find it very difficult to market themselves so it does not make them appear to be bragging or that they want to be in the spotlight," said Linda Rivera, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office manager. "The training provides methodologies and techniques to address those perceptions in a more positive way."

The workshop features presenter Marisa Rivera, president of Mpowerment Works, who promotes the concept that preparation combined with opportunity equals success.

Through her presentation, she promises her organizational clients her services will help them ". . . meet their goals of empowering their people and creating change." Discussion topics include:

  • Building strong relationships,
  • Enhancing the ability to articulate better one's talents,
  • Drawing on capabilities and experiences,
  • Discovering ways to increase visibility and leadership skills necessary to be successful.

Employees can register for this training through DOI Learn and earn four hours of diversity training credit. The class begins at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Room 128, Regional Training and Conference Center.

The countries represented at the marketplace will be:
Bolivia Acquisitions and Assistance Management Office
Costa Rica Power Office
Cuba Resources Management Office
El Salvador Management Services Office
Equatorial Guinea Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program
Guatemala Financial Management Office
Mexico Engineering Services Office
Peru Boulder Canyon Operations Office
