For Release: December 31, 2012
Sacramento, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation today released environmental documents for the Buena Vista Water Storage District Water Use and Irrigation Efficiency Project, which is being partially funded through Reclamation’s WaterSMART grant program.
The project will assist the district in reducing seepage and evaporation losses, as well as improving its overall water-use efficiency through distribution system improvements in Kern County, California.
Under the WaterSMART grant program, Reclamation provides cost-share funding on a competitive basis for water conservation and energy efficiency projects.
Public comments on the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were solicited from November 21, 2012 through December 6, 2012. No comments were received. The FONSI was signed on December 12, 2012.
The EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=9870. If you encounter problems accessing the documents online, please call 916-978-5100 or e-mail mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
