RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Bureau of Reclamation will be hosting an open house meeting on Wednesday, June 26, at the Dakota Lodge from 9:00-11:00 a.m. MDT. The meeting will be held at 5 10th Street East, Lemmon, SD.

The public is invited to the open house to visit with staff regarding a scheduled change in water releases from Shadehill Dam to allow for maintenance work.

“Reclamation will be performing a cleaning and recoating of the radial gate used to make water releases from Shadehill Dam through the outlet works,” said Dakotas Area Office Manager, Arden Freitag. “Work will be performed throughout the month of September including the construction and removal of a coating containment within the gate shaft to perform the work.”

Water releases from Shadehill Dam are scheduled to be cut during the entire month of September to facilitate the work. Cutting water releases is expected to impact the flows in the Grand River downstream of Shadehill.
