The Bureau of Reclamation and the City of Wichita, Kan., has completed the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Equus Beds Aquifer Storage Recharge and Recovery Project (ASR). A Record of Decision is expected to be completed after 30 days from the filing and distribution of the FEIS.

The ASR Project would supply municipal and industrial water to the City of Wichita and surrounding areas in southeastern Kan. The FEIS addresses the environmental impacts resulting from the pumping of water from the Little Arkansas River when flows are above normal base flow and storing the water in the region's Equus Beds aquifer for later re-use.

The FEIS can be downloaded from http://www.usbr.gov/gp/nepa/quarterly.cfm. Paper copies or CDs of the FEIS may be obtained by calling Charles Webster at 405-470-4831, or by writing to Bureau of Reclamation, Oklahoma-Texas Area Office, 5924 NW 2nd Street, Ste 200, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73127.
