Title: Sand Ridge Preserve Habitat Restoration Project
Summary: Reclamation proposes to provide $254,161 to the Center for Natural Lands Management to conduct a habitat restoration project on 19 acres of the Sand Ridge Preserve. The funding would be provided through the Central Valley Project Improvement Act Habitat Restoration Program, which helps mitigate the past impacts of Reclamation's Central Valley Project on threatened and endangered species, and helps minimize future impacts. The Preserve has been identified by the US Fish and Wildlife Service as a recovery area and the Proposed Action would benefit Bakersfield Cactus and the San Joaquin Valley giant flower-loving fly. Project activities would include restoring habitats while testing different weed removal treatments, harrowing a trail, increasing the distribution of Bakersfield cactus, monitoring, and analyzing data.
