Title: West Stanislaus Irrigation District Fish Screen Intake Project
Summary: Reclamation proposes to provide cost-share funding to WSID through its Anadromous Fish Screen Program (AFSP) to screen WSID's existing 347 cubic feet per second (cfs) unscreened diversion along the San Joaquin River with a fish screen that meets current fish screen design criteria. The Project is needed to minimize diversion impacts to out-migrating anadromous fish on the San Joaquin River without impairing the ability of WSID to divert water consistent with their existing water rights. The new intake facility would be located at the WSID existing intake canal and would not increase WSID's overall diversion capacity from the San Joaquin River. Project funding will be provided by Reclamation under Section 3406(b)(21) of the Central Valley Project Improvement Act which authorizes the Department of the Interior to develop and implement measures to avoid losses of juvenile anadromous fish resulting from unscreened diversions on the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers and their tributaries.
