American Samoa Basin Study
American Samoa relies on groundwater to meet water demands and is susceptible to changing precipitation and groundwater recharge patterns, and sea level rise causing saltwater intrusion to groundwater wells. The American Samoa Basin Study is a collaborative effort to leverage existing models and data, and develop advanced technical tools and strategies to maintain a reliable, sustainable, and resilient water supply for future generations. The Study is being conducted in coordination between the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s (Reclamation), the American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA), and the University of Hawaii (UH). Reclamation is providing the funding for this study through the WaterSMART Basin Study Program.
