It was a crisp and beautiful morning during this year's C.A.S.T. for Kids event at Lake Mead, held on Saturday, October 20. A total of 45 children with disabilities and/or disadvantages participated in this year's event, with more than 70 volunteers to help ensure that everyone had a great time.

Participants received their very own rod and reel to take out on the water, and learned proper fishing techniques from the 20 volunteer boat captains who offered their time and expertise. For many of the kids, it was their first fishing experience. Several were able to catch their first fish as well!

After lots of fun and memory-making on the water, the participants were invited back ashore to enjoy a delicious lunch where they had the opportunity to share their stories of the day with loved ones and friends - old and new.

As lunch was winding down, participants were celebrated during the awards ceremony where each child was provided with their very own plaque to commemorate the special day. The children and their families had such a great time, and everyone parted with smiles that stretched from cheek to cheek.

This special event could not take place without all of the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers who commit their time and resources. We would like to give a big shout out and say, 'Thank you!' to everyone who helped make this event a reality, including the C.A.S.T. Foundation, National Park Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Lake Mead Marina, Nevada Striper Club, Nevada Bass Anglers Sportsman Society Federation Nation, Knights of Columbus, Outwest Meat Company, US Foods, Bass Pro Shops, Coffee Cup, and Sportsmens Warehouse.
