The construction of the Folsom Dam Auxiliary Spillway Project (Joint Federal Project [JFP]) continues. The JFP is a joint collaboration between Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve dam safety and flood protection in the Sacramento metropolitan area. The JFP includes a 3,000 foot-long spillway chute, a control structure containing six submerged gates and a 1,100 foot-long approach channel. The construction of the Folsom JFP started in 2008 and is scheduled for completion in 2017.
