Supplemental Information Extends Draft Environmental Document Comment Period for Renewal of San Luis Unit CVP Long-Term Water Service Contracts

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that the public review and comment period for the San Luis Unit Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed long-term Central Valley Project water service contracts has been extended from January 17 to April 3, 2006.

Reclamation is currently preparing supplemental information to address issues and concerns that were identified following the release of the Draft EIS on October 7, 2005.  The draft supplemental information will be available in February 2006, at least 45 days before the end of the comment period on the Draft EIS.  The comment period for the Draft EIS has been extended to April 3, 2006, so the public and agencies will be able to review the draft supplemental information concurrently with the Draft EIS and provide comments on both documents in a single response.

Written comments on the Draft EIS and the draft supplemental information should be received by close of business on Monday, April 3, 2006, and should be sent to Mr. Shane Hunt, Bureau of Reclamation, South-Central California Area Office, 1243 N Street, Fresno, CA 93721.  Comments may also be       e-mailed to shunt@mp.usbr.gov.  For additional information or to request a copy of the documents, please contact Mr. Hunt at 559-487-5138, TDD 559-487-5933.  The Draft EIS is available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=63.  The draft supplemental information will also be available at the same location when it is released in February.
