The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $644,415 construction contract to improve the hydropower facilities at Anderson Ranch Dam located on the south fork of the Boise River about 28 miles northeast of Mountain Home, Idaho.

Eaton Electrical Inc. of Bellevue, WA, was awarded the contract on December 23. The work involves the installation and testing of new static exciters for two 20-megawatt hydroelectric generators. The work is expected to be completed by March 31, 2007.

Anderson Ranch Dam was completed in 1950; it serves as a multiple-purpose structure that provides benefits for irrigation, power, and flood and silt control. The powerplant supplies power to irrigation loads in the Boise, Owyhee, and Minidoka Projects as part of Reclamation's Southern Idaho Power System. Surplus power is delivered to the Bonneville Power Administration for marketing and distribution to regional industries and municipalities.
