The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $2.5 million contract for the delivery and installation of a pump impeller at Grand Coulee Dam in eastern Washington State.

American Hydro Corporation of York, Pennsylvania was awarded the contract on December 27. The work is expected to be completed around May 2007.

"This equipment upgrade will ensure the water deliveries to the Columbia Basin Project remain reliable and efficient," said Commissioner John Keys.

The work involves the installation of a replacement impeller on one of the 65,000 horsepower irrigation pumps at the dam. The Columbia Basin Project is located in central Washington and provides water for over 600,000 acres of agricultural land.
