Yuma, Ariz. – The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that to ensure public safety, Phil Swing Park, located next to Imperial Dam, will be closed to the public beginning on Friday, November 1, to accommodate replacement and repair of the railway line and related infrastructure used in operating the trash racks and screens at Imperial Dam.

To accommodate the much needed construction work, Imperial Irrigation District, which operates and maintains the dam on Reclamation’s behalf, will close public access to the Phil Swing Park area beginning at the main entrance gate at the McKinley Road access point.

Phil Swing Park, located approximately 18 miles north of Yuma along the Colorado River, is known for its easily-accessible fishing and recreational opportunities. The park is expected to remain closed through December 31, 2019.

Any questions about the upcoming project should be addressed to Mr. David Escobar, General Superintendent, Operations & Maintenance AAC-River Division, Imperial Irrigation District, at (760) 339-9747.
