Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: January 05, 2004

An informational open house on the Lake Berryessa Visitor Services Plan (VSP) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the Napa Valley Expo, Riesling Hall, 575 Third Street, Napa, CA. The public is invited to drop by the open house anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A formal meeting will not be held.

The purpose of the open house is to discuss the contents of the DEIS. The DEIS outlines the proposed VSP alternatives that address future recreation at Lake Berryessa, including the type and level of facilities and services that are appropriate on Federal land. Current concession contracts at the lake expire in 2008/2009, and the VSP will be used as a basis for future concession contracts.

The DEIS was released on October 31, 2003, for a 90-day public review and comment period. It may be viewed on-line at www.usbr.gov/mp/berryessa. Written comments must be received by close of business on February 4, 2004, and should be sent to: Ms. Janet Sierzputowski, Bureau of Reclamation, 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA 95825. Comments may also be faxed to 916-978-5114 or e-mailed to jsierzputowski@mp.usbr.gov.

For questions, to request a CD or hard copy of the DEIS, or if special assistance is required at the open house, please contact Louis Moore at 916-978-5106 or e-mail wmoore@mp.usbr.gov.
