MCCOOK, Neb. -- The Bureau of Reclamation has announced changes in permit fees for private exclusive use cabin and mobile home areas as a result of recently completed market rent surveys. These surveys affect cabin and club lots at Cedar Bluff, Lovewell, and Webster Reservoirs in Kansas.

"Reviewing the use of public land and bringing the use into compliance with current regulations and policies is a requirement under federal statute," said Nebraska-Kansas Area Manager, Aaron Thompson. "During this review process, permit terms and use fees are evaluated."

Reclamation worked with the Office of Valuation Services to conduct an appraisal/market rent survey of all private exclusive use cabin and mobile home permitted areas on Reclamation lands in Kansas.

Renewal of the Master Lease Agreement between Reclamation's Nebraska-Kansas Area Office and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism (KDWPT) prompted Reclamation to have the survey/appraisal completed by the Office of Valuation Services.

Updated permit rates based on fair market value for each facility where the surveys were conducted will be applied in accordance with regulations.

"These rates will provide fair compensation of private exclusive use of Federal Lands," said Thompson.

These Market Rent Surveys were conducted on a typical cabin/mobile home site taking into consideration current land values and comparable properties. Market Rent Surveys do not take into consideration any structures on the land or improvements to the land.

The updated permit rates will take effect on January 1, 2018.
