AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho – The Bureau of Reclamation announces today that public comments are being sought regarding Seagull Bay Recreation Area. Reclamation and Power County, Idaho, Commissioners are finalizing an agreement under which Power County would manage the recreation site. Seagull Bay Recreation Area is located on the eastern shoreline of American Falls Reservoir in American Falls. The management agreement is expected to be completed by the end of February.

"The public has a 15-day period to submit comments to Reclamation regarding the execution of this agreement," said Ryan Newman, manager of Reclamation's Upper Snake Field Office. "We know this recreation area is important to the public, so we look forward to their feedback."

Seagull Bay Recreation Area has been operated by Seagull Bay Yacht Club under a lease, which recently expired. Current Reclamation policy requires managing partners to be public entities. Power County intends to contract with SBYC to maintain the daily operations of the site. Under the proposed agreement, SBYC would be permitted to continue season-long RV use of a portion of the recreation area. Facilities available to the public include a marina with slip rentals, RV camping, a venue for special events and activities, and clubhouse.

Members of the public can submit written comments to the Bureau of Reclamation, Margaret Bibbey, 470 22nd St., Heyburn, Idaho, 83336, postmarked no later than Friday, Feb. 10, to ensure proper consideration. Written comments must include the name of the commenter and a return address. If you do not want your contact information published, please indicate accordingly. Comments may also be sent via email at mbibbey@usbr.gov or given by phone at (208) 678-0461, extension 30.

For more information about the proposed management agreement, please contact Ms. Bibbey.
