The Bureau of Reclamation Searching for Owner of Bridge on Lake Fork Creek below Sugar Loaf Dam

LOVELAND, Colo. -- The Bureau of Reclamation's Eastern Colorado Area Office (ECAO) is searching for the owner of an existing bridge constructed across Lake Fork Creek below Sugar Loaf Dam, 5 miles west of Leadville, Colorado.

The bridge crossing is damaged and not passable at this time posing safety risks to the public. Reclamation proposes to remove the bridge as early as 30 days after this news release if no one claims ownership in accordance with Reclamation's Directives and Standards for Disposal of Bridges and Crossings on Bureau of Reclamation Land Easements LND 11-01.

ECAO administers facilities and associated land for the operation and maintenance of Sugar Loaf Dam as part of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. ECAO does not own nor maintain the bridge and has not found any documentation demonstrating its ownership.

The precise coordinates of the bridge are Lat. and Long. 39°15'3.79"N, 106°22'33.56"W.
