Reclamation, CPW Open Public Comment on Lake Pueblo State Park

LOVELAND, Colo. -- Reclamation, in cooperation with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, is seeking public input on a Resource Management Plan for Lake Pueblo State Park and the Lake Pueblo Wildlife Area. The agencies will kick-off a 30-day public comment period on Wed., Jan. 22, with an open house.

The open house will be held at the Lake Pueblo State Park Visitor Center in Pueblo, Colo., from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Public comments must be provided in writing and will be accepted at the open house and throughout the 30-day public comment period. Comments are due to Reclamation by close-of-business, Feb. 21.

Written comments can be provided by e-mail, fax, or regular mail. E-mail and faxes should be addressed to the attention of Ms. Tara Piper at tpiper@usbr.gov, or (970) 663-3212. Regular mail should be sent to the attention of Ms. Piper at: Bureau of Reclamation, 11056 W. County Road 18E, Loveland, CO 80537.

Reclamation is preparing the Lake Pueblo Resource Management Plan. The agency is also preparing an Environmental Assessment in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. CPW is preparing a separate Supplemental Park Management Plan for state owned lands. The agencies are sharing a public process.

Reclamation owns and operates the trans-basin Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, which includes Pueblo Dam, Reservoir, and the surrounding federal lands. CPW is responsible for operating, managing, and administering recreation, fish, wildlife and other natural resources through a lease agreement on these lands.
