Media Contact: Louis Moore, 916-978-5100

For Release: January 09, 2013

NAPA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled a community meeting to discuss the establishment of a forum to promote public input. This initial meeting is intended to establish the forum’s purpose and structure and the organization of future meetings. The meeting will be held:

Thursday, Jan. 17, 6-8 p.m.
Berryessa Senior Center
4380 Spanish Flat Loop Road
Napa, CA  94558

Reclamation anticipates initially holding regularly scheduled forum meetings as plans are being developed and put in place for visitor services and recreation at Lake Berryessa during the 2013 recreation season. Reclamation’s goal continues to be to provide safe and enjoyable recreation experiences for visitors to Lake Berryessa.

In mid-December 2012, Reclamation held three public meetings to explain then-Regional Director Don Glaser’s decision to cancel Reclamation’s concession contract with Pensus Lake Berryessa Properties, LLC. At the meetings, Mr. Glaser introduced plans to create a forum to provide for agency and public involvement regarding recreation and land use activities at Lake Berryessa and to promote effective communication, consideration of interests and the resolution of problems.

In late December, Mr. David Murillo became the Regional Director when Mr. Glaser moved to Denver, Colo., as a special assistant to Reclamation’s Commissioner. With Mr. Murillo, Mr. Glaser continues to be involved in the development and implementation of Lake Berryessa’s recreation management efforts and community meetings.

To request special assistance to attend a meeting, please contact Janet Sierzputowski, Public Affairs Specialist, at 916-978-5100 (TTY 916-978-5608) or jsierzputowski@usbr.gov.

Lake Berryessa is managed by Reclamation’s Central California Area Office as part of the Solano Project. Information on Lake Berryessa is available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/berryessa/index.html.
