Final Environmental Documents Available for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and Sacramento County Water Agency Interim Renewal Water Service Contracts

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for two separate 26-month interim renewal water service contracts with two American River contractors, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and the Sacramento County Water Agency. The contracts would facilitate the delivery of up to 60,000 acre-feet of Central Valley Project water for municipal and industrial uses. More specifically, the water service contract with SMUD provides for the delivery of up to 30,000 acre-feet and the water service contract with SCWA provides for the delivery of up to 30,000 acre-feet. The 30-day public comment period for the Draft EA ended on November 19; no comments were received on the document.
The purpose of the action is to execute two interim renewal contracts to continue delivery of CVP water to SCWA and SMUD until their new long-term contracts can be executed. The term of both the SCWA and SMUD interim contracts would be from January 1, 2013, through February 28, 2015.
