The Bureau of Reclamation joined representatives from the Fremont-Madison Irrigation District to acknowledge the successful title transfer of irrigation facilities and property during a brief ceremony at the Idaho Water Users Convention on January 26, in Boise, Idaho.

Reclamation Commissioner John Keys paused after his keynote address and brought the principal players involved in the process together to present them with an oversized Quit Claim Deed, while recognizing them for their participation in the title transfer.

FMID President Jeff Raybould and Reclamation Regional Director Bill McDonald joined Commissioner Keys for the presentation of the giant Quit Claim Deed.

The agreement, finalized in September 2004, calls on Reclamation to deliver the title to properties and facilities located in Fremont and Madison counties that consist of all portions of Cross Cut Diversion Dam and Cross Cut Canal, two tracts of property along portions of both the dam and canal.

This transfer included all right-of-way and easements from the Cross Cut Diversion Dam headworks located on the Henrys Fork of the Snake River, and the Teton Wells which include pumps, motors and associated equipment.

The title transfer was authorized by the U.S. Congress under the provisions of Section 7 of the Fremont-Madison Conveyance Act of September 30, 2003.
