Media Contact: Robert Walsh, 702-293-8421, rwalsh@lc.usbr.gov

For Release: January 21, 2005

Beginning next Wednesday, January 26, the roadway over Parker Dam will close at 6:00 p.m. PST daily instead of 11:00 p.m. This temporary change in schedule will be in effect until February 2.

The roadway normally closes at 11:00 p.m. daily and re-opens at 5:00 a.m. daily. The opening time of 5:00 a.m. will not change.

The temporary change in the road closure schedule is needed so drill rigs can be brought onto the dam at night to obtain concrete core samples from the dam. Core sampling is a normal examination process that is periodically conducted at Reclamation dams as part of routine maintenance procedures.
