For Release: January 20, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation will host two public meetings to present information and receive comments on the proposed revision to the Standard Criteria for Evaluating Water Management Plans (Criteria). Reclamation developed the Criteria in response to the Central Valley Project Improvement Act of 1992 (CVPIA) and in accordance with the Reclamation Reform Act of 1982 (RRA). The purpose of the Criteria is to promote the highest efficiency of water delivery.

Section 210 of the RRA requires contractors to prepare and submit Water Management Plans (Plans) with definite goals, appropriate water conservation measures and timetables. Contractors are required to submit Plans every 5 years to be evaluated against the Criteria by the Central Valley Project Water Conservation Office. Section 3405(e) of the CVPIA requires that the Criteria be reviewed every 3 years and revised if necessary.

The meetings are scheduled for:

  • Reno, Nevada:  Wednesday, January 26, 2-4 p.m., Eldorado Hotel and Casino, Eldorado
Room 2516,  345 North Virginia Street
  • Sacramento, California:  Tuesday, February 8, 1-3 p.m., Federal Building, Cafeteria Conference
                               Room C-1001, 2800 Cottage Way
