For Release: December 23, 2004

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that Federal property located around Keswick Dam will be closed to the public beginning December 31, 2004. This closure is issued to provide for the protection of Federal property and to ensure public safety at Reclamation facilities.

The closure includes the area within 500 feet upstream for the entire width of the reservoir surface and 600 feet downstream of Keswick Dam. Keswick Dam Road crossing the dam crest will remain open to vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians 24 hours a day, however, the road may be closed to meet operational and security needs.

Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists must comply with all posted signs and other directions.

An aerial photograph showing the closure area is available for inspection at Reclamation's Northern California Area Office, 16349 Shasta Dam Blvd., Shasta Lake, California. The aerial photograph is also posted online at www.usbr.gov/mp/ncao/projects.html.
