For Release: January 10, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact to authorize conveyance of up to  560 acre-feet per year of treated effluent water through the Newlands Project's Wade Drain.  The Newlands Project is located in the Lahontan Valley in Churchill County, near Fallon, Nevada.

Authorization by Reclamation will allow treated effluent water from Churchill County's Moody Lane Regional Water Reclamation Facility to flow through the Wade Drain to the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge and assist in restoring and protecting portions of historic wetlands habitat at the refuge.

Minor modifications to the existing Wade Drain facilities will be made for the conveyance of the treated effluent water.  In particular, a new water control structure will be constructed to measure and release treated effluent water from the D-Line to the F2 Drain.

The Environmental Assessment/Finding of No Significant Impact was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and may be viewed at online.  If you encounter problems accessing documents online, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 916-978-5608) or e-mail mpPublicAffairs@usbr.gov.
