"Rick"s financial management experience, including a stint as the Region's Finance Officer make him a great addition to the Region's senior management team," said Gray-Lee. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this job that will be invaluable as we address future financial management issues in the Region."

"I am excited and honored to be selected for this job," said Leavitt. "I appreciate the team environment that exists in the office and look forward to working with others throughout the Region and the Bureau of Reclamation and to meet all significant challenges."

Leavitt fills the vacancy left by the former FMO Director, Bruce Stockinger, who retired in December.

Leavitt began working in the Region in 1993 as a stay-in-school student/employee. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a B.S. degree in financial management - accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a title he earned after ranking third when he took the Nevada CPA exam.

"I look for a job that is challenging, exciting and offers opportunities for a variety of topics," said Leavitt. "With Reclamation, I have an opportunity to be involved with water, power, loans, grants, contracts and numerous other areas."

Leavitt and his wife reside in Henderson, Nevada, and have three children.
