Commissioner John Keys Recognizes Contributions of Reclamation Engineers During National Engineers Week

Reclamation Commissioner John Keys congratulated Reclamation engineers today for their many achievements over the past year. These achievements are among those being recognized during 2004 National Engineers Week, February 22 - 28.
"Reclamation's achievements in bringing water to the West have earned us a well-deserved, world-wide reputation for excellence for more then a century," stated Keys. "This reputation is due, in large part, to the expertise and innovation exhibited by our engineers."
Reclamation engineers have completed numerous projects during the last year, including dam safety modifications at Deer Creek Dam in Utah, feasibility designs for a new powerplant at Pueblo Dam in Colorado, engineering studies for the Yakima River Basin Water Storage project in Washington State, and an evaluation of reverse osmosis membrane needs at the Yuma Desalting Plant in Arizona.
"As we move towards the future, Reclamation engineers will continue to play a key role in helping this agency meet the water resource challenges of the 21st Century," Keys said.
National Engineers Week is an annual event to bring to public attention the work and contributions of our nation's engineers. It was first established in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers. For more information on National Engineers Week, visit www.eweek.org.
