For Release: January 24, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to enter into a Warren Act Contract for 1 year with Lindsay-Strathmore Irrigation District (District) to convey, when feasible, non-Central Valley Project (CVP) water in excess capacity in CVP facilities.  To allow greater flexibility and options to receive water to meet demands, the District is requesting up to 10,000 acre-feet of non-CVP water.

The District pumps Kaweah River into Bravo Lake.  Once in Bravo Lake, it travels west into Reclamation's Friant-Kern Canal and eventually flows into District facilities.

The Draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available for a 15-day public review and comment period.  Please send written comments to Ms. Patti Clinton, Bureau of Reclamation, 1243 N Street, Fresno, CA 93721, by Thursday, February 7, 2008.  Comments may also be faxed to Ms. Clinton at 559-487-5397 or e-mailed to pclinton@mp.usbr.gov

The Draft EA is available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=3006.  If you encounter problems accessing documents online, please contact Ms. Lynnette Wirth at 916-978-5102 or e-mail lwirth@mp.usbr.gov.
