For Release: January 18, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) proposes to issue a right-of-use grant to Arizona Public Service (APS) for the expansion of the Yuma to San Luis 69kV power line.

The project, which would co-locate 19.5 miles of new 69kV transmission lines, will provide additional transmission lines and substation capacity to help APS meet future and existing customer needs in south Yuma County near the City of San Luis, Arizona.

Since more than seven miles of the existing lines cross Reclamation withdrawn lands, this proposed action is subject to review and documentation under the National Environmental Policy Act.

Reclamation has prepared an Environmental Assessment and a draft Finding of No Significant Impact on this project, and these documents are available for public comment. Copies of the documents are on the Yuma Area Office website, at www.usbr.gov/lc/yuma or, by request to Mr. Julian DeSantiago, at (928) 343-8259 or E-mail: jdesantiago@lc.usbr.gov . Comments will be accepted for 30 days.
