The Bureau of Reclamation selected Jennifer Molesworth as the new Sub-basin Liaison Coordinator of endangered species habitat enhancement programs in the Methow sub-basin based in Twisp, Wash.

Molesworth worked as a fisheries biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Methow Valley Ranger District. She replaces Greg Knott who retired from Reclamation on December 31, 2007.

Molesworth joins Reclamation with over 16 years of experience in fisheries science. She has a long track record of documenting fish habitat conditions, fish distribution, and identifying and implementing restoration projects in the Methow basin.

"With her fisheries background, she'll fit in well with Reclamation's mission in the Methow Valley," said Dave Kaumheimer, Environmental Protection Supervisor at Reclamation's Upper Columbia Area Office in Yakima, Wash. "She is no stranger to the issues or the basin. I think we are very lucky to have her onboard."

Prior to retiring, Knott helped to initiate several habitat restoration projects in the Methow basin in 2002. He also built partnerships with county, state and local resource management offices to build several habitat restoration projects for anadromous fish, fish passage facilities, and securing reliable water supplies for local irrigation.

Molesworth will work closely with many of the same partners, including Chris Johnson of the Methow Salmon Recovery Foundation. Together they will develop a broad spectrum of enhancement projects over the next few years. MSRF is a non-profit organization cooperating with Reclamation to coordinate cross-agency funding for habitat projects in the basin.

"Our projects are designed to blend salmon recovery needs in a way that balances the needs of the people who live here as well as the environment," said Molesworth.

For information about the habitat restoration and activities, contact Methow Sub-basin Liaison office at (509) 997-0640 or jmolesworth@pn.usbr.gov.
