Visitors to Hoover Dam on Sunday morning, January 7, will be in for an extra-special treat - a performance by an awards-winning show band from Australia.

The Upper Hunter Showband will perform on the promenade of the Hoover Dam Visitor Center at 10:30 a.m.

Formed from schools in New South Wales (just north of Sydney), the band's members are students who live in remote areas and study by mail, phone, teleconferencing, e-mail, and videoconferencing, but come together for practice and performances. The schools comprising the band include The Southern Stars, The Marching Koalas and The Namadgi Red Backs.

The band will play: We're All in this Together, Black or White, Final Countdown, Treasure of Cortez, 1812 Overture, All the Small Things, Respect, and Waltzing Matilda.

The band is visiting the dam and Las Vegas as part of a tour they are taking the week following their participation in the New Year's Day Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, California.
